Hi,

Thaks for supporting Orux Maps.

I have one small request.
If possible, please add MultiLayer option in Map tiling, just like in OruxMapsDesktop.

Regards.

Hi Master7,
MultiLayers has sense only if maps have been taken from a map server that works with multiple layers.
OkMap makes map tiling using one map image only.
How OkMap should work?

I understand that some layers have a sense when it comes to different scales. Similarly it was built multilayered maps for navigators Magellan (rmp files) - one layer of a map scale, for example, 1:25 000, the next layer - 1:50 000, one more - 1:100 000 and so on... If you have multiple maps of the same area at different scales - why not put them into one file?

//Cheers, Victor

I was thinking that may be useful use a post-process program to assemble different layers into one OruxMaps map.
Anybody know if does it already exists?

In generally, of course, You're right.
But I mean situation when I have few maps in OruxMaps containing the same area.
Let's say two maps: one taken from map server (we have few layers), second taken from map image (in fact only digital zoom).
Switching beetwen them simultaneously with two different types of zoom - IMHO it's nightmare.

I understand, but Map tiling actually can only load one image at a time.
I think that a post pocessing that joins all layers seems the more easy thing to implement (and to use).
I'll tell with my OruxMaps friends to check if something of similar already exists.

Hi all;

two comments:

If you have maps of the same area, but with different levels of zoom, OruxMaps automatically will load the next map when using the zoom buttons. It is not necessary to join the maps in the same file (unless you turn off the auto load map using the zoom feature in settings).

With OruxMapsDesktop you can create multi-layer maps based on one-layer maps, reducing the image by 50% for each zoom level. It's a digital zoom, therefore. Then OruxMaps can display the map at full screen at any zoom level. If you use OruxMaps digital zoom on maps of one layer, it would have to load many tiles (eg 18x18 tiles at 12.5% zoom level) which is not possible by the memory limitations of android applications.

But if you want to join anyway maps, there are solutions ;)
