OkMap tutorial on importing and exporting maps and GPS data in different formats.
In this video, you will see how to load maps, waypoints, tracks and routes, check the formats supported for reading and writing, and save data in the desired formats.
Recommended prerequisite
To better understand this tutorial, we recommend watching these first:
Procedure:
- Load a map file
- Choose the map file format
- Select the map file to load
- View the map in the File Manager
- Open the Save function to view the available output formats
- Scroll through the list of supported formats
- Select the GeoTIFF format
- Save the map with the same name and the .tif extension
- Load waypoints, tracks and routes
- Choose the GPS data format
- Select multiple GPX files to load
- View the GPX files in the File Manager
- Select the GPX file to save
- Open the save function and view the available formats
- Save the selected GPX file
- Add any information to the GPX file
- Confirm the added information
- Confirm replacing the existing file
Tips:
- Always scroll through the list to view all supported formats
- Check the available format before loading or saving a file
- Use multiple selection to load several GPX files at the same time
- Select the GPX file in the File Manager on which you want to use the available functions
- Choose the export format that best suits the intended use of the data
- Check the exported file before using it or transferring it to other software or devices
Notes:
- OkMap supports numerous formats for importing and exporting maps and GPS data
- The available formats depend on the type of data being loaded or saved
- The list of supported formats is scrollable and contains additional formats beyond those immediately visible
- Multiple GPX files can be loaded at the same time
- Additional information may be requested when saving a GPX file
- If the destination file already exists, OkMap asks for confirmation before replacing it
Common mistakes:
- Not scrolling through the list and therefore missing some of the available formats
- Choosing a format that is not suitable for the type of data to be imported or exported
- Forgetting to select the correct GPX file before using the save functions
- Overwriting an existing file without checking that it is the correct one
- Not checking the exported file before using it with other software or devices
