OkMap Tutorial - Advanced Track Editing
Learn how to edit and update a track using advanced tools in OkMap.
Add, move, and delete points with precision to improve your GPS routes.
Before you start:
To better understand this tutorial, we recommend watching first:
Procedure:
- Set an appropriate zoom level to work precisely
- Select the Track tool and start drawing
- Use the Selection tool to move the map and select points
- Select a track point to add new points after it
- Delete unwanted points by selecting them (Shift + drag) and using the context menu
- Unlock map objects to move points (if needed)
- Use the Eraser tool to quickly remove individual points
- Use Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y to undo or redo changes
Tips:
- Always work with a high zoom level to avoid positioning errors
- Add a few points at a time to keep control of the track
- Be precise when drawing curves
- Keep straight sections clean by removing unnecessary points
- If making many edits, save the GPX file frequently
- After editing, reassign time data to the track (see video "Prepare a Hiking Trail")
- If needed, use the track simplification function (see video "Processing a GPS track")
Notes:
- The context menu (right mouse button) is essential for many editing operations
Common errors:
- Drawing with too low zoom, causing inaccuracies
- Forgetting to select the correct point before adding new ones
- Not noticing that objects are locked and cannot be moved
- Creating tracks with too many points, making them hard to manage
