OkMap Tutorial - Merging Multiple Tracks
Published on June 4, 2026 - 5 minute read
Tutorial on how to merge multiple GPS tracks into a single track using OkMap.
In this video you will learn how to import multiple GPX files, copy tracks into a single file,
create a JOIN track, and finally merge all segments into a single continuous track.
To better understand this tutorial, we recommend watching these tutorials first:
Procedure:
- Load the GPX files containing the tracks to merge
- Copy all tracks into a single destination GPX file
- Close GPX files that are no longer needed
- Create a JOIN track by progressively adding the tracks to be merged
- Delete the original tracks after verifying the result
- Rename the JOIN track
- Merge the JOIN track segments into a single continuous segment
- Delete the intermediate track and rename the final one
Tips:
- Make sure all tracks are in the correct logical order before merging them
- Carefully check the connection points between one track and the next
- Keep a copy of the original tracks until you have verified the final result
- Use meaningful names for tracks during the merging process
- After merging, check the distance, elevation profile, and statistics of the resulting track
- If necessary, use cleanup and simplification tools to optimize the final track
Notes:
- The JOIN track is initially created as a track consisting of multiple segments
- The final segment merge operation creates a single continuous track
- The original tracks should only be deleted after verifying that the resulting track is correct
Common mistakes:
- Copying tracks into the wrong GPX file
- Adding tracks to the JOIN track in the wrong order
- Deleting the original tracks before checking the final result
- Forgetting to merge the segments, leaving the track split into multiple separate parts
- Failing to check for discontinuities between the end of one track and the beginning of the next
